Garden Design and Planting Plans
To make your garden a place you'll love spending time in, I listen to your brief and translate your wishes into a garden where you'll love entertaining family and friends.
During a topographical survey, I record the position of the house, changes in level, where the boundaries lie and the position of drains and pipes, plus the location of any trees and solid or permanent structures. I take photographs of the garden and its surroundings and examine the soil.
Whatever style of garden you long for, traditional or contemporary, I produce a scaled, hand-drawn plan of the garden. We will discuss the type of planting including the colour palette you prefer: cool blues with purple, white and grey or the hot and fiery shades of red and pink mixed with orange and yellow. This information enables me to gather a selection of plants for the garden that are going to inspire you.
Paying attention to the architectural style of your home ensures the garden becomes an extension of the indoor space. Whatever the style, all plant material will be suited to your soil and the garden's aspect.
I will present a concept garden design to you for approval followed by a quotation for the construction cost from my preferred landscaping contractor. The design will include garden lighting and irrigation options, for which I obtain a separate quotation.
Plant Supply and Planting

evergreen shrubs, climbers, ornamental grasses, herbaceous perennials and
bulbs sourced from local plant nurseries.
Whether you prefer large specimens for a mature garden look or are happy
to wait for the plant stock to grow naturally by opting for smaller specimens,
all plant material is selected by me, to guarantee quality and optimum
performance.
Planting plans can be created for an entire garden or for a single border. If
you have a border which doesn't seem to work, if it lacks imagination or you
want to create a new area of planting, you can rely on Acorn Garden Design
to assess the area and make recommendations . Plans show the species of
plant and cultivar name in Latin, its position on the plan and the quantity
required.
When planting occurs, we are available to accept deliveries, position the
plant material according to the plan and supervise the planting of each
specimen. A team of trained professionals assist in the entire planting
process.
Gardening Services
We are pleased to offer a maintenance programme for your garden by supplying professional gardeners to remove weeds, hedge trim, mow lawns, cut back and prune.. The team are capable of undertaking any gardening task and hold a spraying licence to tackle tricky, weed-stricken areas. The team work throughout the entire gardening year.
I recommend regular lawn treatments to scarify, aerate and weed and feed the lawns and this programme of care is carried out by a local lawn treatment company.
